I and my friend Mave
are both going to be 70 this year and we've decided to push off and
cycle across Canada this summer, a distance of nearly 6000
miles...! The pottery will remain open - but I wont be there!
Loch-an-Eilein Pottery
is a rural craft pottery which is
simply unique
reflecting Penny Weir’s spontaneous enjoyment of creating hand-thrown
pottery that reflects the impressive surrounding landscapes.
Loch-an Eilein Pottery is a small rural craft pottery located on
the road to Loch-an-Eilein, Rothiemurchus, one of the loveliest spots
in the whole of the Spey Valley.
The pots are all hand thrown in red earthenware by Penny Weir. She
specialises in jugs of all sizes from cream jugs to pitchers, and
in large breakfast cups, teapots, mugs both large and small, storage
jars and garden pots.
She glazes them in blue and green and in a rich turquoise, or in
majolica, which is a white glaze with a blue design painted or sponged
on. The results are spontaneous and simple and reflect Penny's enjoyment
in handling the clay.
